My Advocates

Hi everyone, today was a great day! I saw my primary doc and my second primary doc. Dr. Munshower & DNP Kiersten Brown. My vitals are FINALLY back to normal. Main Line Health Newtown Square 10/10.

Dr. Munshower ladies and gents. If you need a primary see him.
Kiersten Brown ladies and gents! If you need a primary I ALSO recommend her!!! DNP!

My swelling is practically gone. My incision is almost fully healed without scabs. My doctor walked in and was OMG BECCA YOU’RE BACK TO YOU AND IM SO HAPPY I WISH I COULD HUG YOU!

These two are my advocates. They have wonderful bedside manner and fax anything and everything to the radiology oncologists I’m going to see. My Dad & Bruce were on speaker to be there with me due to COVID.

They both call me twice a week to check on me. They both call my neurosurgeon, eye doctor, etc to make relationships with them to get my records. They message me also all my paperwork. This is above and beyond their job. They do this not only for me but all of their patients.

They have become family to me over the last couple of years. They both listened to me when my first primary in the practice didn’t take my medical concerns seriously.

Kiersten called me 3x while I was in the ER Friday for Dr. Munshower as he was on vacation. She calls me at night so I can vent when I need it. She’s not even technically my “primary”. She’s the one that gave me the steroids to help with the ear ringing.

If Dr. Munshower did not build relationships with my ENT and team of doctors my tumor would still be undiagnosed. Dr. Munshower took me seriously as a 25 year old who complained about headaches. He sent me to a specialist where my apt was not until December. He took me seriously when I had the ringing in my ear and called my ENT and got me the CT. He’s raw with me. Tells me what radiation will look like and my treatment but also encourages me. He messages me you got this at random times through the portal. He doesn’t need too.

Did I mention he also is a huge Eagles fan, loves that I ran as a delegate for Joe, AND IS A SCRANTON ALUM!

He answers all of my questions and my families. He makes sure all my records are in one place and is helping me pick my oncologist. He only wants the best for me and my family.

He ends every conversation with stay strong Becca. We got this together. You know we think about you everyday. Kiersten does the same.

They already told me they want to crash my wedding one day and all of my big life events. My neurosurgeon said she’s going to convince them to be my flower girls and ring bearer LOL! I am so happy they all communicate and advocate for me. It makes this time much easier.

Onward! As I prepare for radiation in 2021 I’m getting used to wearing beanies and/or head turbans/ scarfs at all times when I will need to. I’m also wearing my first meningioma awareness shirt I received yay! Whenever you wear grey, think of those going through a brain tumor like I. We are warriors.

Be bold.
