Hi! My name is Rebecca “Becca” DiValerio.
– at 25 years old, I was diagnosed with a right sphenoid meningioma.
If you would have asked me on October 26th, 2020 how I was – I would have said something along the lines of:
I am doing great, just got back from a hiking trip. I have tinnitus in my left ear from the high altitudes I am pretty sure. I hope this pandemic is over soon.
October 26th was the start of my brain tumor journey. The abridged version:
- Oct 26th, 2020 – CT scheduled
- Oct 27th, 2020 – Meningioma discovery
- Nov 2nd, 2020 – Craniotomy
- Nov 27th, 2020 – Mania and insomnia lead to hospital visit
- Dec 2nd, 2021 – Pathology report back
- Jan 9th, 2021 – Treatment one of thirty-three for proton radiation
- July 1st, 2021 – Return to work
- July 2nd, 2021 – Colonic-tonic seizure
- Sep 1st, 2021 – Return to work
During this time, I was forced to rediscovery myself. Mentally, physically and emotionally. This journey has not been easy, however it has became rewarding.
I started this blog in my mania. I searched for a support group that was raw. One that showed the good, the bad, and the ugly.
When my search lead to a dead end. I started sharing my journey. A journey I am still on.
This journey does not define me. It is a part of me. You’ll learn more about me in my writing. Read my blog.
Be bold.
